Vue Vision Centre is proud to be at the forefront of treating Dry Eye Syndrome as a serious disease and continues to invest in cutting edge technology in order to help our patients seek the best dry eye treatments available.
E>Eye is the first medical device in the world using IRPL® technology that has been specifically designed for the treatment of dry eyes due to meibomian gland dysfunction (MGD). Meibomian gland dysfunction has been identified as a principal cause of dry eye disease. It results in the tear film becoming unstable, which leads to an insufficient production, or an excessive evaporation of tears. Most cases of evaporative dry eye are primarily due to a compromised external lipid layer of the lacrimal film, caused by malfunctioning meibomian glands. Which leads to symptoms of burning, itching, a grit feeling inside the eyes, tired eyes, red eyes and variable vision (you blink you see ok and then you blink and you don’t see as well).
E>Eye is a dry eye treatment that generates a new polychromatic pulsed light by producing perfectly calibrated and homogenously sequenced light pulses. The sculpted pulses are delivered under the shape of regulated train pulses. The IRPL emits “cold light” which stimulates the meibomian glands in complete safety. The energy, spectrum, and time period are precisely set to stimulate the meibomian glands to improve their function and reduce inflammation and blockage of the meibomian glands. This technology is non-invasive, entirely painless, and completely harmless to the eyeball.
Treatment sessions only take a few minutes.
IRPL® treatments lead to an improvement in the function of the meibomian glands shortly after the treatment. IRPL® helps improve the symptoms of dry eye, reduce progression of dry eye, and because it plays a role in relation to the skin’s collagen it can improve the overall appearance of the surrounding tissue affected by dry eye. The full success of the treatment depends on compliance with a specific protocol. For best results we advise an iLux® treatment at the same time as the first IRPL® treatment. For optimal results, treatments will be performed on Day 1 (with iLux®), Day 15, Day 45, and then as needed according to your doctor’s recommendations.
