Your specific case of conjunctivitis may display a combination of all or some of the symptoms below:
Our doctors at Vue Vision will first diagnose the cause of your symptoms. As conjunctivitis has several different causes, a diagnosis is required before administrating the appropriate treatment. Most forms of pink eye/red eye respond quickly to treatment, and a visit to our vision centre is much faster than a trip to the walk-in.
If the cause is a bacterial infection, antibiotics may be prescribed for strong cases of pink eye or for an infection that has persisted for quite some time.
In case of an allergic or environmental cause, we can help you determine what is causing your reaction so that you can take the appropriate steps to avoid contact again. We regularly treat patients for conjunctivitis and quickly administer tests to determine its cause. We can treat the symptoms with eye drops and antihistamines to provide relief from your discomfort, allowing you to get back to your normal activities.
If the cause is from a viral infection, steroids may be prescribed for strong cases of pink eye. If the infection is likely to persist for a longer period of time, an in-office treatment of betadine solution can be used to drastically reduce the infection duration. Viral infections are not typically treated with oral medication, as your body will naturally fight the infection.
